Thegroupof two-and-a-half tosix
yearoldsenjoyedall aspectsof a
geographicaluniton theAsiancountry,
including readingsandart, through
which they identifiedsquaresand
circles through Japanesesculptureand
wooden toys.
In latewinter, thestudentshosteda
sushiparty forparentsatwhich they
followed recipes, setup foodstations,
andservednoodles, eggs, andsalmon.
Thechildrenalso learnedabout
familycustomsandculture.OnMarch
3rd, theycelebratedHinaMatsuri,
alsoknownasGirlsDay,which isa
traditional Japaneseholiday towish for
thehealthandsuccessofgirls.
Inalignmentwith theMontessori
philosophy, Kodomo-no-hi, observed
onMay5th, thefifthdayof thefifth
month, isChildren’sDay, aday to
respect children’suniquepersonalities
and tocelebrate theirhappiness.
Theclasscompleted theunitwitha trip
toSatoRestaurant,where they tasted
authentic Japanesecuisine, and they
visited theBuffaloCherryBlossom
Festival inDelawarePark.
